Dental insurance options for your family without having to work for a large company

Now that you your own boss, you don't need to work for a large company to protect your family's smile. Tooth decay, gum disease, and oral cancer can all be prevented, or at least diagnosed and treated early, with regular visits to the dentist. Whether you decide to finance your dental expenses, purchase a dental discount plan or buy dental insurance, it will help you get the dental care you need to maintain a healthy smile.

Financing Your Dental Visits

Pro: See any dentist you want, no monthly premium payment

Con: More expensive dental costs, large payments are due at the time of service, unknown costs and limited cost protections

Dental Discount Programs

Pro: Lower annual fee, receive dental services at a reduced cost or discounted fee

Con: Limited choice of dentists, some dental services are not eligible for discounts, larger payments due at the time of service

Individual Dental Insurance

Pro: Full coverage plans similar to an employer's dental benefits, minimal cost or no cost for preventive care, broad choice of network dentists, lower costs for dental services

Con: Monthly or annual premium, may not be able to use benefits immediately

Remember to weigh your options and determine the best path to keeping your family's smile healthy.  Call your local insurance agent, check out dental discount programs online or contact the dental insurance carrier directly.
