3 Drinks that are Sneaky Sources of Sugar

Candy is often considered a “treat” when juice is considered a “normal” part of a packed lunch or after-school snack. Labels that read, “All-Natural” and “100% juice” aren't as healthy as they appear.

Sneaky sugar sources—like the ones listed below—are why we encourage you to rethink your drink.

Sports Drinks
Because of their electrolytes, sports drinks are popular among endurance athletes. However, they’re not the best choice for shorter workouts. Why? One bottle is packed with around 20 grams of sugar. That’s the equivalent of eating 2 cake donuts!
Learn more about consuming sports drinks the right way here.

100% Apple Juice
A 15.2-ounce bottle of Minute Maid Apple Juice contains 49 grams of sugar, equivalent to 10 Oreos. Natural sugars are found in apples and other fruit, but an
apple has only 19 grams of natural sugar.

Bottled Green Tea
A 23-ounce Arizona Green Tea contains 51 grams of sugar! The World Health Organization recommends consuming less than 5% of our daily calories from added sugars. Half of a can of green tea is the entire recommended daily intake!

As you can see, sometimes sugar hides in “healthy” places. We know you are trying to make healthier choices in 2017, and drinking more water has many benefits.
