Tigers are born toothless. With such large teeth, it’s hard to believe that cubs are born without any at all. However, after a few short weeks, tigers get their milk teeth or baby teeth. Their teeth fall out like humans, but not until the adult teeth push the milk teeth out.
Tiger teeth are 3 inches long. Tigers need long teeth so they can bite and kill their meals. Their favorite selections include buffalo, boars, fish and wild pigs.
Tigers have large gaps in their teeth. Next time you see a tiger yawn at the zoo, notice the big space between the molars and canines. This makes it easy for them to grasp their prey tightly.
Missing teeth = man-eating tiger. Tigers don’t typically attack or eat humans, as they have free-reign on most animals in the jungle. However, they may attack if they can’t satisfy their needs otherwise. One telltale sign of a man-eating tiger is old and/or missing teeth.
